Make a Mojito

One of our favourite cocktails at Tatler is the Mojito, originating in the late 1800's in Cuba. This refreshing yet potent drink combines fresh sugar cane, mint and lime juice mixed with Cuban white rum and crushed ice.

Mojito Ingredients

You will need ...

One and a half limes cut into quarters
60 mls Havana Club Blanco
6-8 mint leaves
Crushed ice
A barspoon full of cane sugar
30 mls sugar syrup
(equal parts sugar and boiling water).
Soda water
Mixing glass
Muddler or rolling pin

Get together your mixing glass, one and a half fresh limes cut into quarters, one bar spoon of cane sugar and 30 mls of sugar syrup. Add all into your mixing glass.

step1

Take 6 to 8 large mint leaves in the palm of your hand and slap them with your other hand to release the flavours. Add to your mixing glass with the limes, sugar and syrup, take a large muddling stick, or rolling pin, and squash your mix to release all of the juice from the mint and limes.

step2

Fill your glass with ice and add 60mls of Havana Blanco Rum, add your tin half to your shaker and shake like hell. Fill your serving glass with crushed ice. Strain the mix into your glass and top with soda water.

step3

Add a fresh mint tip to garnish and enjoy this delicious and refreshing cocktail.
