Tatler's Menu Magazine features twelve of our favourite cocktails, one for each sign of the zodiac. Come in and try yours, or challenge our mixologist to create something entirely different.

 

 

CAPRICORN (Dec 22 - Jan 19) Margarita
Often good-looking, Capricorns can be unfriendly, rigid, shy and reserved. You hold grudges and have a pessimistic outlook on life. You like competition and usually get what you want. However, once we get to know you, we appreciate your patience, wisdom and practicality. Also, you are funny.
Wrap your laughing gear around a Margarita featuring Olmeca Tequila, Cointreau and lemon juice with an optional salt rim.

AQUARIUS (Jan 20 - Feb 18) Long Island Iced Tea
Aquarians can be eccentric and stubborn and appear unemotional. Yet you are intelligent and have a talent for coming up with original and unique inventions. You are honest and independent, friendly and loyal; perhaps your friends appreciate your sweet personality, or perhaps it’s that they simply find you attractive inside and out.
Your Zodiac cocktail is the Long Island Iced Tea comprising Absolut Vodka, Havana Club Blanco, Plymouth Gin, Cointreau, Olmeca Tequila, lemon, sugar and coke.

PISCES (Feb 19 - Mar 20) Metropolitan
As a Piscean, you are generous, kind and unselfish. Your friends will say how thoughtful you are and that they appreciate your sensitive, sympathetic and loving nature. But they may also comment on your tendency to be secretive or vague and your dislike of details – maybe you’ll be perceived as dreamy and unrealistic. You are creative, imaginative and beautiful and you are a good kisser.
In fashion terms you like modern over traditional so we think you’ll like the Metropolitan Absolut Raspberri Vodka, Cointreau, lime and cranberry juice.

ARIES (Mar 21 - April 19) Nippy Zippy
Often known as the daredevil, those born under the Aries sign are energetic, adventurous and spontaneous - you get bored easily and are extremely impatient. You have a short fuse and it’s easy to make you angry. You may appear selfish and egotistical but it's just that you are confident and enthusiastic – always looking for fun challenges. You’re physically fit and athletic and you are brave and assertive.
We’ve designed a cocktail to suit your energy – the Nippy Zippy features Absolut Raspberry Vodka, Cointreau, Chambord, lime, sugar, passionfruit and cranberry.

TAURUS (April 20 - May 20) Bloody Hell Mary
You may seem boring to some but you are a hard worker: stable, strong and determined. You are reliable and patient and do not take shortcuts. You are aggressive in love, expressing your passion and emotion but you are prone to tantrums if you are not indulged. You are a good friend and are kind and generous, ready with advice when it’s needed. We’ve come up with a drink for you that combines traditional flavours with a fiery twist: The Bloody Hell Mary with Absolut Peppar Vodka, olives, limes, Lea and Perrins, Horseradish sauce, rock salt, cracked pepper and Simply Squeezed tomato juice.

GEMINI (May 21 - June 20) Daiquiri
As a Gemini you are outgoing, chatty and lively. You’ve got plenty of energy and are always busy and you’re happy to adapt to new situations. Geminis are often beautiful but may seem superficial, nervous or tense. Self-expression is important to you and you come across as argumentative and outspoken; sometimes you’ll be perceived as a gossip because you love to talk. Your boundless energy requires healthy fuel so keep your fruit intake up with a Fresh Fruit Daiquiri featuring Havana Club Blanco, Cointreau, lime juice and fresh strawberries, mangoes or pears.

CANCER (June 21 - July 22) Classic Martini
You are shy but come across as moody and emotional. Cancerians are cautious in love and easily hurt but once you fall in love, you mate for life. You are loving and caring, protective and demonstrative but you are also needy and expect to receive more love than you give. You like to know what you’re getting in a drink so you’ll be wanting to order something traditional such as the
Classic Martini with Absolut Vodka or Plymouth Gin, Noilly Pratt Vermouth and an olive or a twist. Served wet or dry.

LEO (July 23 - Aug 22) Cosmopolitan
Bossy Leo likes being in control and you tend to take projects over and do them your way– but you like to help and your creative energy, organisation talents and your wish to do things correctly means that it usually works out for the best. You like order and boundaries yet you’re sensitive, social, outgoing and generous. Leos are loving and warm-hearted, almost always attractive too.
Leos suit the colour red so the perfect drink to match your outfit is the Cosmopolitan with Absolut Citron Vodka, Cointreau, Lime and Cranberry Juice.

VIRGO - (Aug 23 - Sept 22) Caipirinha
As an employee you are smart, practical and diligent but you are fussy about working conditions and require order and tranquillity. As a lover you are eager but you’re harsh in your criticism and hard to please. You like to be the dominant partner and in arguments you want the last word. Friends may observe that you worry too much and are shy and pessimistic but you are loyal and very easy to talk to. You don’t like complicated recipes or beverages so here’s a cocktail with just a couple of ingredients:

LIBRA (Sept 23 - Oct 22) Mojito
Librans are social creatures, nice to everyone they meet. Loving, beautiful and flirtatious, Libran energy is appealing to be around at parties but you hate to be alone. As a Libran you are gullible and also find it hard to make decisions about everything, from what to pack for your holiday to what to drink at the bar. We’ve made it easy by choosing your cocktail for you.

SCORPIO (Oct 23 - Nov 21) Absolut Passion
Scorpians are hard workers with energy, intelligence and determination. These same traits make the Scorpio a great lover too, along with your talent for passionate kissing. As a Scorpio you love being in love and you are romantic and not afraid to show your emotions - but be careful not to show your tendency to be jealous, obsessive or possessive. Your passionate nature requires a drink to match:

SAGITTARIUS (Nov 22 - Dec 21) Caprioska
